The charity was started by the Girl Guides, South-East (England,) with money from The Queens Silver Jubilee Community Awards. The bus became an important and well loved 'Playbus' with links to Gatwick Airport.

The photographs were part of an exhibition which was used to highlight the value of mobile play projects and the vast range of services they could support.

Having written the photographic book children asked so many questions that I began to write a story which has been published.

'Jay-Jay the Supersonic Bus' tells the fictional story for the start of the project.

It has been so well received by the children in school that hopefully more books about 'Playbus' life will be put into fictional form too.

There are many real 'Mobile Playbus Projects' all bright and colourful and all delivering important services.

The project recieved a plaque from the '1977 The Queen's Silver Jubilee', The Queen's Silver Jubilee Trust award for Services to the Community.

Jay-Jay's second adventure sees him visiting a small island. The story 'Jay-Jay and his Island adventure' is based on another real bus which visited a remote Island in the Scottish Shetland Isles.

More stories are currently being written.
