Where on a bus of course.
It was lovely to be invited to Amberley Museums children’s event on Bank Hoilday Monday 2016.
UF6805 is affectionately known as ‘Chicken Shed’.
During the Second World War this old bus was requisitioned by the army and used to transport POW’s and Land Girls to help out on the farms.
At the end of the war the old bus was left behind and forgotten, it was commandeered by the chickens. It was used as a hen house and was found in a very sad and dirty state.
Amberley museum rescued it in the 1970’s and worked hard to restore it back to an original condition. It is now proudly on display at the Museum.
Now that’s a story to write!
Jay-Jay would love this! I did!
Even more exciting a little visitor knew me as a visitor from her school many weeks before. Mum knew my name but then Ah Ha! I produced my Lego Ear-rings from my pocket. Of course! I had been in disguise as the Lego Lady.
2021 with even more books the stories are also now in other bus Muesums such as the London Transport Museum and Brooklands.
