playbus history

  • I was recently booked for a day in a local school where I was asked to work with year 1 on their transport topic. The day was a mix of author booking as well as supply cover.

  • Since the book was published it has been amazing how many people the Playbus helped over the years.

  • Having now delivered my books to Downing Street I can say that a copy of each book is both at number 10 Downing Street as well as Buckingham Palace.

  • I have often been asked, how did I become a children’s author. My children’s writing journey all began with the carnival.

  • “What do you remember about the bus?” I asked.

"The friendship and it was always full of laughter. It created happy memories" was the reply.

  • Do you remember the BBC television programme 'Challenge Anneka?

This year’s celebrity line up for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ includes Anneka Rice.

  • Most people when you mention Playbus recall the 1963 British musical feature film ‘Summer Holiday’ which starred Sir Cliff Richard.

  • This summer, the 2018, August edition of the Flybe magazine contained an article regarding the Bewbush Playbus books and the fictional tales of Jay-Jay the Supersonic Bus.

So why and how did this come about?

  • In 2012 the Bewbush Playbus photographic book was published. The photographs, from both public and private collections, had been used to promote the project, highlighting what a playbus was as well as what a playbus could offer.

  • It was lovely to be invited to Southgate School for World Book Day 2016.
