Who is the book for?

This is a question I am often asked but find it hard to answer at times.

JayJayBusThe book is aimed at ages 5 to 7. and can be used to support a topic on ‘Transport’, It has worksheet and teaching ideas too.Playbus

But I find the question hard to answer because it tends to pigeon hole the book.

Year 5I have heard from parents who have loved the book but their child is younger, or in a similar way being older does not mean you will not like it.

It is a story based on a real bus and older children love this too.

So, I often refer to the children and their opinions to help me.

Here are a few comments from Year 5 on the current books and future story ideas too..

JayJayBus:-Year 5 review

I really loved that it was the bus’s emotions;

It’s amazing and a lovely story about an unwanted bus turning into a wonderful fun bus;

Supersonic BusI loved the build up where he was sad and then brand new;

I liked how Jay- Jay had thoughts;

I found it fun because it was a true story;

I like this book because it was from Jay-Jays point of view;

Jay-Jay sounds so special.The best bit was when he left the scrap-yard and worked his way to the airport and was transformed into a playbus. I also liked it when he got his medal from Buckingham Palace.

I also had the chance to tell a few other stories which are in the planning and story-telling stage.

‘The Weather Witch’ or the ‘Legend of the Rainstick’

I think you should send your rainsticks to Africa because it hasn’t rained there in a long time ;The Rainstick Mystery

Sue went to a school and the children made rainsticks, there was a flood and she said, “It was you not me!” ;

The best bit was when the rainsticks made the rain. I liked it because it sounded stange and mysterious and I love books about that.

The Weather WitchThe most magical part was when you found out what made it rain and what made it sunny;

After hearing the story we went home in the rain.
