This week has certainly been full of surprises.
On Tuesday I had a lovely time at a local library, where as an author, I met two reception classes. It is always a friendly greeting when I visit Merstham library. Tina Campey, the librarian, and I share our Nanny experiences. She is Nanny Owl – that’s the perfect title for a (Nanny) librarian.
On Friday a call came to ask if I could do supply teaching, I wasn’t sure at first.
I haven’t chosen to do supply for over two years
Why?
… because I wasn’t sure anymore
… because I’ve been busy with my writing and concentrating on new books [now fifteen]
… because blog tours and book launches have taken my time.
But as this was a friendly school that I knew and have visited many times before I thought I might take the booking.
Would I remember them?
Would they remember me?
How would the day go?
Despite the stormy weather I was off.
Today Year Five
Two years on, and the last time I would have met this Year five class they would have been in Year three. In fact, that was probably the last time I was in the school.
What a pleasant surprise there were lots of excited, friendly greetings from both the staff and the children.
A great class and a great welcome.
Would I do it again?
Yes, supply teacher or author.
Photo Memory
Wow!
That’s spooky!
A few years ago while visiting a reception class in this local school, the owls were visiting, I was given the chance to hold an owl.
My grandson, then aged 2 liked owls and when shown this photo he said “owl “ excitedly.
No this is Nanny with an owl!
This week I met a real Nanny Owl who is the fantastic librarian at Merstham library. There I met some lovely reception children.
Then on Friday I revisited the same school, no owls just lovely children .
I think Nanny Owl, would like this.
I felt like this week has been a full circle.
A big Thank You to Sue Wickstead who visited Merstham Library yesterday and spoke to classes of local school children. We all had a great morning and enjoyed listening to your stories (Surrey libraries)
“what you are doing is absolutely 'spot on', so do not stop.” (Tina Campey).
It’s days like this that keep you going.
