My story books are on sale at ‘The Bookshop’ in East Grinstead, it’s always good to come along to sell signed copies and talk about the background and connections to my writing.

Bus Running Day 2026

It’s even better to sell bus stories to little and big bus enthusiasts, to share. The Bus Running Day is held every April and is a great opportunity to bring along bus books.

It was a lovely sunny day as we headed off to East Grinstead. It was also my husband's birthday, and he was happy to come along.

We arrived early and managed to set up before the Bookshop was open.

It was good to have a few friendly visitors who came to say hello. Denise and her husband were ready to take a bus ride or two.

Sam, whom I met from ‘The Moving Mug’, was helping out with the day's events. He wore the bus badge I had given him. His smiles matched the sunshine of the day.

Today was a perfect day for an open-topped bus ride. There were two open-topped buses to choose from, and they were very popular. There were also lots of stalls selling bus models, cards and history books. These were also very popular today.

With single and double-decker buses hiding around corners, there were plenty of buses, old and new, going by. It was certainly a happy and friendly day.

As people passed by, it was nice to share my bus stories and talk about the real-life links to the ‘Playbus’ and other buses.

"Are there still Playbuses around?" I'm asked

Yes, In Ipswich and Hackney, among others.

Is there one near you?

People stopped to listen, and a few books were sold to excited children throughout the day.

With the chess tables set up outside, it was good to see people stop to play a game or two.  It added to the relaxed and calm atmosphere.

An excited Sam popped back at the end of the day to say how much he had enjoyed the event, and his bus rides too.

Yes, it was another lovely, friendly day.

There was, as ever, a few quiet times, but there were also lots of people who stopped to find out more.
