Childrens drawing of bus

The task in school today was to write a letter as a character in a book to another character.

Choose any book! Well the class wanted to hear 'Jay-Jays' story so it was a good opportunity to combine tasks. As always there were lots of questions and discussion. The children love to hear about the real bus as much as the fictional bus and like to compare the 'Fact and the Fiction'.

Following this visit I was able to write a response to the class from Jay-Jay.

To St Andrews School Year 3

Thank you for your lovely letters. I will try to answer some of your questions.

I am glad that I was rescued from the dirty dusty scrap yard all those years ago. I was a bit worried when they took out all of my seats but it did give much more room for the children to play. It was great to have been able to drive around the town and have had the opportunity to meet so many children. It is good to know, even though many are now grown up, that the children have so many fond memories of meeting with me and the time we had together. The slide was always very popular and great fun because the children could climb up onto my bonnet and pretend to drive me!

I was very honoured to have received a special medal from Her Majesty the Queen. Did you know that Her Majesty the Queen has her own copy of both my fact and fictional books? She wrote me a letter to say thank you. I may not still be around to meet you in bus form but I am glad to get to meet you in my fictional tale.

I hope you enjoyed my book!

Best Wishes
